  • JOB SUMMARY

    The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for providing support and advice to Hestia leadership as well to the project and site management level on all human resources matters including, but not limited to, full cycle recruitment, employee relations, recognition, policy and program development, and benefits management. This position requires a motivated and professional individual that demonstrates integrity, honesty and responsibility. The Human Resources Generalist is work independently and collaboratively as part of the team and reports to the SVP.

    ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

    General

    Develop and maintain all human resources company policies, procedures and practices.

    Provide employee relations advice and expertise to management.

    Informs management on rights, processes and provides options with recommendations for issue resolution consistent with policy, and applicable legislation.

    Compile monthly HR reports to provide analysis and recommendations to support business needs and requirements.

    Assist with employee benefits coordination and set up.

    Assist in developing a comprehensive training program for career development of staff

    Assist management in the planning and implementation of workforce adjustments as a result projects and timelines.

    Maintain completeness and accuracy of employee files.

    Recruitment

    Manage full cycle recruitment for all corporate and site construction positions.

    Participate in career fairs, co-op programs and build external relationships to source talent.

    Continually be active in recruiting good talent for the company

    Network with trade schools and RAP program to attract apprentice carpenters and skilled labor.

    Develop and maintain agreements with approved temp labor agencies

    QUALIFICATIONS & CHARACTERISTICS:

    Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with board range of individuals and groups

    Demonstrate ability to maintain confidentiality and handle issues of a sensitive nature with tact and discretion

    3-5 years experience in Human Resources generalist position.

    Experience in construction industry an asset.

    Demonstrated knowledge of employment and related legislation.

    Diploma or Degree in Human Resources or relevant program preferred.

    Ability to manage various situations appropriately with confidentiality, tact and sensitivity.

    Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills, able to make and promote decisions.

    Able to interact professionally and effectively with all levels in the company.

    Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office.

    The ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.

    Strong verbal and written communication skills along with a team-oriented mindset.

    Valid driver license required.

  • The Lead Estimator is responsible for the quantification, cost estimation, and bid preparation for all development and construction projects. The Lead Estimator will work closely with the project management team in the preparation of estimates, project initiation and planning.

    The Lead Estimator will apply industry best practice techniques to ensure work is done accurate and assists in the project success. The Lead Estimator is to work collaboratively as part of the team and reports to the SVP.

    ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Prepare preliminary budget assessments with project statistics, scope preparation and summary

    Review schematic drawings analysis and provide key notes for issues and alternatives

    Attend site visits and meetings, as required

    Manage all Class D to Class A estimating activities during pre-construction

    Work closely with the SVP and PM team to produce well prepared cost plans (estimates, scopes, VE, schedule, risk analysis, variance reports)

    Coordinate and participate in constructability review sessions with the PM and Site Super and take notes

    At tendering stage, be responsible for tender packages, trade reconciliation sheets, work closely with the PM to identify specific scopes

    Prepare bid packages for construction management projects

    Coordinate and lead trade scope clarification meetings

    Prepare pre-tender and post-tender estimates with variance report

    Provide smooth transfer of project estimates to project team

    Prepare procurement schedule, tendering, buy-outs, set up costing system and control estimate for future historical data

    Follow up with project through to completion

    Assist PM with labor cost report and productivity reports how it relates to estimate

    Make periodical site visits and walk arounds with PM and Site Super

    Assist to identify difficult and unique design details, formwork systems (how it was estimated, how it was built) and construction equipment

    Perform and manage all labor, material and equipment take-offs and associated pricing

    Communicate with all required subtrades for each tender to ensure understanding and completeness of scope

    Ensure all required information is completed and assembled prior to the tender deadline

    Coordinate preparation of full estimates, identifying inherent risks and opportunities

    Prepare milestone schedules to match estimate and scope of work

    Keep current in building best practices and knowledge of industry changes

    Be a team player and carry-out other duties as required by the SVP.

    QUALIFICATIONS & CHARACTERISTICS:

    Able to interact professionally and effectively with all levels in the company.

    Demonstrate ability to gather and organize information from several sources and compose sound knowledge of construction and building techniques with ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.

    5+ years’ experience in construction estimating.

    Experience in tendering and closing tenders, tender comparisons, procurement models and bulk negotiations with vendors and organization of documentation

    Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office.

    Experience with Sage 300 CRE, Procore, Bluebeam Revu is an asset.

    Gold Seal Certification in Estimating or working towards it is an asset.

    The ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.

    Strong verbal and written communication skills along with a team-oriented mindset.

    Ability to display a high level of professionalism at all times and possess the ability to meet deadlines without compromising accuracy and completeness.

  • JOB SUMMARY

    This position will work collaboratively as part of our construction team and in partnership with our sub-trades in implementing and monitoring site-specific safety plans. This position requires a motivated and professional individual that demonstrates integrity, honesty and responsibility.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Implements the safety program as established within Corporate H&S Manual

    Actively monitors and influences work progress to ensure compliance with health and safety expectations and OH&S regulations

    Provides site orientations to all workers/visitors on site

    Monitors compliance to safety procedures and policies

    Educates workers on safety standards and best practices

    Initiates and supports incident response, notification and investigation activities

    Conducts Toolbox meetings for site staff

    Reviews all Field Level Hazzard Assessments (FLHA)

    Takes action as required to immediately correct unsafe acts or conditions

    Communicates safety requirements to all on site

    Participates and documents site inspections, insures compliance and corrective actions are completed.

    Reports incidents, unsafe conditions, unsafe acts to the site Superintendent

    Light physical duties as required – installing guard rails, sweeping, general cleanup

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum 1 – 3 years as Construction Safety Officer (CSO) or (NCSO)

    At least 3 years of experience on commercial or residential construction sites

    Ability to work independently as well as within a team

    Very strong organizational skills

    High attention to detail

    Strong written and verbal communication skills

    Strong computer skills including MS-Word, Excel, Outlook and Projects

    Own and Operate a reliable vehicle

  • JOB DESCRIPTION:

    We are looking for a responsible Project Coordinator who will run, administer and organise all project activities in cooperation with and under the direction of the Project Manager. We are design/build construction company that primary focuses on building Senior’s assisted living facilities and multi-unit condo buildings as well as other commercial projects in and around Calgary, Alberta.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate activities, resources, equipment and information

    • Assist the Project Manager in preparing project tenders, schedules and procurement.

    • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans and reports

    • Assist in the preparation and distribution of contract documentation

    • Log and maintain Site Instructions, RFI’s and Submittals

    • Track project rental equipment and tool inventory

    • Review construction plans and specifications

    • Maintain accurate and consistent project files and documentation in Procore

    • Assist with day to day project coordination activities as assigned

    • Coordinate and document project meetings

    • Prepare warranty/O&M manuals and turnover documentation

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum 3 – 5 years of related Canadian experience in commercial and multi-unit construction projects

    • Ability to work independently as well as within a team

    • Very strong organizational skills

    • High attention to detail

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    • Strong computer skills including MS-Word, Excel, Outlook and Projects
